Learn some of the things you can do during your stay here

The Basics

To give you some idea what’s going on here ‒ detailed below are some game objectives, and ways to have fun in this world. To learn further detail & advanced gameplay, also check (or even just skim) the Command syntax reference.

Playing is easy. You type in any desired commands/actions you want to try, press Enter (or click if you must), and see the results. Other people can do this along with you at the same time, making for a hopefully fun multiplayer game experience. You see descriptions of the public actions taken by other people in the room with you, and you can interact (give, take, hug, etc). Your literacy point score increases with every new allowed verb you try. Plus there are already over 185 sound effects (not counting synonyms) with which to audibly pester other players and their pets.

Exploration

Feel free to move about the game freely and explore new areas by using directional commands like "North" (or their map links on the right like "N"). There are dozens of rooms, with their own descriptions, entrances, contents, and sometimes visitors. As the storyline gets developed, new areas will be added.

The Screen

When you first start playing, you see an information bar at the bottom of your screen. As more text appears and scrolls in the main area, these details should remain on the bottom of your screen. If you want to clear up clutter in the main command area, you can use the clear command to clean things up. There is also a list of players, chat help and other utilities on the right, which collapses for smaller screens.

Registering

Be sure to register in order to take advantage of additional game features. You can play as a guest, but won’t be able to do everything you can do as a registered player. Signup is fast, simple, free and spamless (you only need to provide a player name and a password). You can do so right now using the register link on the right-hand side of this screen.

Idleness

You can be idle for 60 minutes before you’re automatically logged out. If you see a message like Guido fades away, that means that Guido was logged out due to inactivity. Users who are not in any particular room in the game, but are browsing this content or the player pages, may appear as Outside of the game when you use the who command.

Coins

Coins are the basic currency around here. If you see any lying around somewhere, take them! In fact many of the objects found in the rooms are free for the taking, unless it tells you otherwise. There are also a few ways to earn extra coins here and there, through basic economic activities you’ll discover.
